Let me begin by saying that recently I realized that the energy I use complaining, feeling negative, expecting the worst, attempting to predict the future… well that’s just energy being burnt up in the wrong way; by wrong I mean unhelpful, unproductive and unnecessary.
Yes, sometimes we need to think about our future: the direction of our life, the value of our relationships, the way we view the world but as we know everything in moderation is the best way forward.
If you are a little like me and may oftentimes find your energy focusing on the ‘what if’s’ of the world, it’s time to take action and realize you’re using the same amount of energy that you would be if you focused on the present moment and paused anxious thoughts in their tracks.
Opening our eyes to the present moment and productive thoughts will have fantastic ripple effects with ourselves and our worlds; using this positive energy will lift us up, rather than draining ourselves with the fear of the unknown. I mean, that’s all anxiety is based on – fear. Crippling fear.
I’m telling you this, but no I’ve not nailed it… this is a new realization but think about it – it makes perfect sense, right?
We will always produce a vibration an energy, but we need to access and evaluate whether this is positive or negative; whether we’re wasting our energies potential or not.
The action I’m going to take to try and recycle any negative energy into positive energy is through meditation and writing.
Firstly when I realize a moment in which my energy is focused towards negative, non-physical things building within my state of mind; I shall draw myself back into reality and out of my head. Basic meditation principles of breathing, awareness of what’s around me & what I can feel, physically.
I carry a stone, well a few stones, around with me which I particularly like the feel of and whenever I feel I’m losing sight of the present moment and going into a negative state of mind I take out my stone and focus on the feeling of it within my hand.
As you know, I love writing – the simple act of it, pen and paper. It’s raw. It helps my emotions flow. I will use the act of writing to remind myself of the thoughts I am having and the energy it uses and what thoughts and energy I could be utilizing instead.
Remind myself how positivity is nothing to fear, it is something to become and nurture.
Hopefully just from my little moment of realization you too, can have your own; or maybe share with someone who may need it.
A little activity:
Write down a list of words of the person you wish to be, in terms of your attitude; hopeful, positive, courageous, confident and certain. These being my own.
Ask yourself if the values you put out into the world, that is, the energy you use and the attitude you put out into the universe correspond or conflict with this…
