No one can love you truly, until you love yourself alone.
Enjoying your own company is a skill that many of us lack, but it is possibly one of the most attractive and admirable qualities a person can have. In today’s society our alone time isn’t ours, we sit on our laptops, phones or tablets distracting ourselves with the lives of others. Texting. Calling. Communicating through a screen.
When I see people going to the cinema or having a meal at a restaurant alone, I truly admire them. They aren’t making a ‘social statement’ or anything. They do not require the company of another to make them happy. They are happy to sit and be with themselves.
If you lack self-esteem. If you are depressed. If you find you cannot be alone without being bored, irritated and needing the company of another person through the phone or physically. Change that.
I have said this before. I have said this a billion times. But I shall say it a billion and one:
You are going to be with one person for your entire life, yourself. You might as well learn to love that person.
We will depend on people in our lives, but there is a fine line between dependence and complete attachment. If you attach and associate your happiness, your wealth and your worth on another being then you will crumble if they disappear – which can happen.
Invest love in yourself.
Invest love in others.
They will invest it back.
