Keeping up appearances is truly draining. Feeling unable to be yourself, is simply insulting towards your natural character, personality and happiness – why would you question and doubt yourself so much to the point of waking up each day disliking who you are?
Although I can sometimes feel very insecure when I’m out, well a lot of young girls do, as we are often made to compete against one another by the media. Insecurity can be spotted from a mile off; your body language, how warm your personality comes across, whether you keep strong eye contact or not, your level of responses and how you engage in conversation. In worrying about how we appear to others, we lose a sense of ourselves and become easy to forget and not the company of someone to enjoy. We then confirm our beliefs that we are unattractive, because in being insecure we can appear cold and unwelcoming.
Or we may try and be over confident. We may be cocky, look down on people, talk down to people as if we are the ‘best thing since sliced bread’ and that also makes us unattractive, cold and unwelcoming; no one likes an arrogant bully, narcissism is very transparent.
If we all just understand us as we are in our simplest form, no complications, no insecurity, no comparisons. If you think about your personality; your quirks, weird habits, you laughter, how you are when you’re tired, what makes you angry, what makes you happy, what makes you feel like a child again, what makes you feel pretty, what makes you feel relaxed, how you play with your hair when you’re nervous, the way you brush your teeth or eat when you’re starving and EMBRACE it. Fall in love with yourself. Understand, it’s all just a part of you and we just are as we are. You cannot change this or try and create yourself into someone else.
Embrace your personality. Embrace how you look. Embrace it. Just be it.
Because when you truly accept yourself for who you are, this is when you can find a sense of peace, tranquility and beauty within. This is when you can welcome like-minded people into your life. This is when people spot you. This is when the quality of life will change.
Be yourself with everyone, including you.
True security with yourself shines an aura people will want to be around.
