It can suddenly hit you. A monumental darkness. Sadness. Emptiness. Loneliness.
It can suddenly place a tonne of weight on your body. An unbearable ache. Stress. Worry. Fear.
You sit for what feels to be days. Staring. Waiting for emotion to come back, for the numbness to fade. You just exist. A rush of emotion comes but it’s fear, it’s sadness; it’s not what you want. You want to be content. When you move you feel tired. When you sleep your anxieties resurface, you try to escape but you can’t run from your mind. You want to run from yourself. You want to disappear.
At any point, for any reason, mental illness can effect you or a loved one.
Who are we to tell someone suffering that it’s ‘just a phase’?
Who are we to dismiss someone suffering because we cannot ‘see’ what is wrong with them?
Any part of your body can become sick, this includes your mind. It happens to 1 in 4 of us. It can happen to you.
Let’s not be ignorant.
Let’s not judge others.
Let’s support each other.
Let’s get informed, get involved.
Let’s stop brushing it under the carpet.
They matter. They’re human.
